Beijing is your playground. That's the word from the first Beijing Summer Digital Entertainment Jam this month. The event, from July 9 to August 10, sees digital fans mix and play with industry experts from Asia, Europe and the US. Nine workshops, symposiums and exhibitions make up the jam, presented by the Digital Entertainment Academia League.

It aims to create a platform for better communication between local and foreign talents on digital entertainment design, who will show off communication-based technologies, and exchange ideas on pervasive game theory, entertainment theory, interaction, product design, and new media, in the following programs.

Mystery Reality Game Workshop

American Ryan Holsopple, creator of the Canal Street Station subway murder mystery game, will design a new mystery reality game with you. His 31 Down radio theater is a project that includes live music, sound effects and dramatic scripts.

Pervasive Game Workshop

Finnish Jurgen Scheible and BICT associate professor Ding Zhaochen will highlight designing process of pervasive games, and help develop a custom-made game prototype.

Digital Dynamic Image & Communication Design Workshop

Francesco Galli, a professor from the Polytechnic University of Milan, will guide on how to create a dynamic image project, using software tools such as DVD Studio Pro, Photoshop and Cinema 4D.

Group Exhibition

The exhibition will provide a platform for fresh digital artists to showcase their work.
