In pursuit of a suburban lifestyle

(That's Shanghai)

Just as people grow older, settle down and look forward to a suburban lifestyle, so, too, do restaurants.

Take Las Tapas, for example: it is more refined, more elegant and family-friendly than its rowdy downtown cousin, Tapas Bar. The outdoor seating area and extensive, reasonably-priced wine list offer weary bar hoppers a pleasant respite, as does the wide selection of truly delightful tapas. We took the recommendations of the friendly staff, ordering the spiced olives (RMB 18), fried chicken with marinara (RMB 35) and our favorite, the spicy sliced sausage (RMB 39).

Be warned, though: Las Tapas is as much a bar as it is a restaurant. The loud pop music and diverse crowd might make this place lively, but they do little to inspire an authentic ambiance.
