An institution in the making

An institution in the makingWhile many new restaurants appear to have more investor money than they know what to do with, Frankie's is a rare case of funds well spent.

The staff, for instance, is refreshingly adept-management has clearly taught them genuine hospitality by example. And though the luxurious interior is sober enough for even the driest business dinner, inviting details, such as the immaculate open kitchen and live pianist lend an intimate, even romantic, ambience. But with celebrity chef Marco Pierre-White's name on display, the cuisine is rightfully the center of attention here. Our freshly-made ravioli with goat cheese and turnips (RMB 68) was inspired. And another house recommendation, a tiramisu trio (RMB 78), was equally well-advised.

In short, Frankie's has all of the hallmarks of an institution-in-the-making; indeed, we expect the expansive dining room to be fully booked in the near future.
