Who said bund?

(City Weekend)

When you're as tired of the Bund spots as we are, you start being extremely grateful when good options open elsewhere. Such is the case with MAO.

With an interior that would compete with any other high-end venue in the city, this club/lounge is small and cozy, exuding an air of exclusivity. While the leather couches in the upstairs and mid-level lounges are perfect for taking some "couple time out," the real treat of this upscale neighbor to the Eager Beaver is the outside garden where you can enjoy your money-well-spent drinks in the concession-era backyard.

The staff, hailing from Monaco, make service extremely efficient, but at a price (expect your gin-and-tonic to go for RMB 68). However, the cocktails being mixed in the smaller, more private back bar, will exceed your expectations without a doubt. Perfect For: a taste of Monte Carlo with your Shanghai pals.
