A free meal isn't far awayTo get free snacks, check out the big supermarkets, such as Carrefour Supermarket in Beijing and Carrefour Lotus Flower Supermarket in Shanghai. There are two ways you get free snacks in these supermarkets.
One is try the special tasting promotions during the weekends, which you'll usually see at those supermarkets. They display new snacks or drinks and invite customers to have a free taste. Some of the food offered include new kinds of yogurt, bread, biscuit and soup

Big supermarkets usually have open counters selling nuts, Chinese dates, and hawthorn rolls. If you are interested in buying food from these counters, you can taste them before deciding whether to buy them or not.

Big websites, like sina.com and sohu.com have bulletin board systems (bbs) with food listings, where lots of foodies post their restaurant reviews. These bbs organize regular parties for their members try new restaurants.
