From Russia with spunk
(Beijing weekend) Updated: 2007-05-25 11:22 Vitas Vladasovich Grachyov - dubbed the miracle of Russian song -
brings his charming smile and infinitely beautiful voice to China next month.
One of the year's most anticipated musical events, the tenor gives his debut
show in Beijing on June 15.
The singer (pictured right) first appeared on the Russian stage with his hit,
Opera No 2 in December 2000, which went on to become a classic. Vitas, as he is
known to Chinese fans, has been a favorite singer of Russian audiences ever
since. But the video also won him fans from other countries, especially in
China. Lacking knowledge of the Russian language was no barrier for thousands of
admirers from China, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan. When they first heard Vitas
sing, they loved his creative work, his voice and his songs. Vitas is a creative
artist with a unique approach to songwriting. Instead of sticking to one form of
music, he branches out to many different styles.
In his singles, Opera No 1, and Opera No 2, he hits high octaves and
difficult notes, in a style somewhat unusual for a pop singer.
Songs such as Internet Nastroyenie sound more like electropop, while songs
like Unlucky suggest folk influences.
Vitas stays in InterContinental Beijing Financial Street.
