Office workers waking up for another day at the office may be exhausted
just thinking about the prospect of sitting at their desk all day. But if you
pay more attention to your body, you can be more productive and relaxed too.
When getting up...
When you get out of bed, it's
the best time to do some stretching exercises. Stretching can relax your muscles
and accelerate blood circulation. A good pose is to put your hands and knees on
the floor, then keep your back in a bow shape for about ten seconds. After that,
slowly relax your muscles. Repeat this movement several
times.
When in
the office...
When you're in the office, the most important
thing you may ignore is your sitting or your walking posture. Bad posture can
lead to back pain and make you tired. Here are some simple tips to keep in mind:
1) When sitting or standing, use your abdominal muscles to keep your
stomach in and your back straight. Relax your shoulders.
2) If you are
sitting in the front of the computer, your eyes should be at the same level as
the center of the screen. If not, adjust your seat's height
3) Women
should not wear too high of a heel or carry heavy handbags as they may affect
your body balance.
When
having lunch
Many experts say our diet can affect our
physical and mental well-being. Office workers should choose foods with a low GI
(Glycemic Index), because foods high in GI can make your blood sugar index
unstable, and can make you easily irritable and exhausted.
Recommended
foods:
1) Vegetables, fruits and cereals.
2) When in bad mood,
have some chilli peppers. They have a stimulating substance thatcan perk you up.
3) If you want to release tension, eat foods that have calcium and
magnesium, such as sunflower seeds, kelp, beans and broccoli.
4) If you
feel tired all the time, you need to absorb more Vitamin B1. Some food
suggestions are fried pig liver, pickled garlic, or fried onions to give
yourself a lift.
When in the afternoon..
Afternoons are when most
office workers feel sleepy. Some prefer to nap at their desk, but there are some
hand exercises you can do to recharge: Cross your fingers and use your right
hand to massage the joints on your left-hand; after 10 minutes, switch hands. By
doing so, you will increase your blood circulation and feel refreshed.
