LOHAS comes but where to go!

"LOHAS" (Lifestyle of Healthy and Sustainability) has become and new and hot buzzword. It's a reflection on people wanting to have a healthy and simple lifestyle and living attitude, and that people should live closer to the nature.


With "Labor Day" approaching, people who want to live a LOHAS will finally have time to flee from the busy city life to the countryside. And Beijing's suburban areas are ideal spots for relaxing, as the landscapes are natural, healthy and quiet.

Cycling

Warm and sunny weather inspire people to get on their bikes for a ride. And forpeople of LOHAS, Shidu and Xigou are no doubt the best cycling places.

Jiudu, Fangshan District

Cycling route: From Jiudu to Sandu, Fangshan District

Duration: About three hours to finish the round trip.

The entire trip is just beside the gorgeous Juma River where you can see many boats along it. There are also many great mountains and scenic spots en route. So cyclists can stop periodically to take a break and take in the picturesque scenery.

Tips:

1) The road from Jiudu to Badu is a little bit bumpy. But after that the rest of the way will be smooth. However, from Badu to Liudu, there are many vehicles, so you should be careful riding in these areas.
In Jiudu, there are many hotels and restaurants where people can enjoy traditional homemade dishes. And there are also many sidewalk food stalls which offer delicious snacks and refreshments.
3) How to get there: Jingshi Expressway- Liulihe. Exit-Yueli Road, then along Yuegezhuang-Yuesheng Road-Yunjusi Road-Zhouzhang Road-Zhangbao Road

Xigou, Miyun District

Cycling route: From Wangshouxing Palace,Wohushan scenic spot to Machang, Xigou; About 9km long

Cycling in the green woods can be a great adventure. In Xigou, a famous place known for its lush forests, cyclists can ride around the trails. There is no dust or traffic - just clean brooks and melodious birds' songs.

Tips:
1) The ride in Xigou is hilly.
2) It is advisable to finish this ride by mountain bike, which can be rented at Wohushan.
3) How to get there: Sanyuan Bridge- Jingmi Road- Miyun-101 National Road- Wohushan
