Not to miss
By Oliver Robinson (That's beijing) Updated: 2007-04-12 09:44 Terminal (April 14)
On April
14 the o2 Culture crew unleashes its latest dance series onto the Beijing party
scene. The Terminal party targets the mainstream and is set to be Beijing's
biggest seasonal event. "We have always wanted to pull off a 'high-class' event
here in Beijing. By bringing our innovative event style to a fully operational
club in a convenient downtown location, it really gives us the opportunity to do
just this," explains organizer Kiko Su. Electronic music will be provided by
three of the biggest names in the industry (Ben Huang, Youdai and Mickey Zhang),
while Section 6 takes care of hip hop duties in Arena.
Luke Chable (April 27)
The fable of Luke
Chable and his turn table(s)... Apart from having a name that rhymes with
lots of things, Chable happens to be quite a talented DJ, well at least
according to the guys at Tango... but they would say that, wouldn't they. Born
in Melbourne, Chable honed his skills, collaborating with fellow DJs Phil K,
Ivan Gough, Nubreed, Jono and Fernandez. Perhaps the abundance of talent in
Melbourne explains why DJ royalty Sasha, Dave Seaman and Chris Fortier are
referring to the place as a hotbed of progressive house and breaks. He hits
Tango on April 27.
Sundays on Top (Apr 28)
It's been a while
since we've heard from Blink, the organizers of the Sundays on Top series, but
it's been cold so they've been hibernating. Now that the sun is starting to
shine, Blink returns to tempt you outside to enjoy the best weather Beijing has
to offer before it gets too hot and sticky. Though the venue isn't yet confirmed
(what is it about April?), wherever Blink lands itself, be sure to expect an
atmosphere that's the closest thing Beijing has to a Cafe del Mar (as in Ibiza,
not the sketchy place in Lido).
