Health care in Spring

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), human bodies function differently with season changing. That means we'd better change our drinking, eating and living style for spring.

Spring is the season of growing, which Chinese medicine says is the liver season. It's a good time to take care of the liver. Spring is also the best time to adjust the whole body, which helps us healthier. Let's start our spring life.

 Drinking

The following three recipes are often used to help us from catching cold.

Soup with lily, lotus seed and white fungus

Ingredients: six dried lotus seed (Lianzi) (4 grams), white fungus (Yin'er) (4 grams), Chinese dates (Dazao) (4 grams), dried lily (Baihe) (4 grams), sugar (20 grams) and water (200cc)

Washing all the materials, and putting dried lily, Chinese dates and white fungus into water until they become soft. Boil lotus seeds to half-done, change the water, then add dried lily and Chinese dates. When the above three become boiled, add white fungus and sugar.

Experts say the soup does good to our stomach and liver. In some family, it has been the dessert.

Tea of ginseng (Rensheng), Gouqi and Wuweizi

Ingredients: ginseng (20 grams), Gouqi (20 grams) and Wuweizi (10 grams).

Boil all ingredients for 20 minutes.

Experts say the tea helps refresh us.

Tea for spring

Ingredients: Huangqi (50 grams), Gouqi (50 grams), chrysanthemum (Juhua) (50 grams), Chinese dates (30 grams) and water (1 liter)

Boil all the ingredients, add some sugar before drinking if you don't like the taste.

Experts say, this tea help preventing us from cold. But people with acute inflammation or high blood pressure cannot drink it.
