Umeyosi, a newly opened Japanese restaurant in Sanlitun, plans to satisfy customers with different needs.

The ground floor has a big public area, as well as a long bar counter at one side. The second floor has a sushi bar, and the public hall is divided into small areas with two tables, enclosed on three sides. The third floor has plenty of private rooms in tatami style.

All three floors are furnished with fine lumber in original wood colors. All the furniture is said to have been imported from Japan.

The restaurant has an extensive menu, consisting of plenty of sashimi and sushi, as well as hot pot, and other types of Japanese cuisine. The chef is from Japan and the management Hong Kong.

The ingredients are said to be imported from Japan. That includes everything from the beef and seafood to the seasoning and rice. The small pickled vegetables were good. The sashimi, particularly the deep-sea squid, was terrific. Unfortunately, the dish accompanying the rice was a little bland.

The Japanese chefs can also whip up a banquet of different courses. It includes a seasonal starter, soup, assorted sashimi, barbequed, boiled, fried, or pickled foods, and desserts.

The presentation is elaborate, with a variety of tableware from Japan. Average spending is around 400-500 yuan per person.

Opening hours: 11:30-2pm, 5:30-10pm.
Location: 1 Sanlitun Beixiaojie, Chaoyang District.
