Bob Sinclar is coming!(smartshanghai)Updated: 2007-02-28 09:07 It's
official! After much anticipation, and more than a little disappointment after
canceling his gig in October, SmartShanghai can
exclusively reveal that Bob Sinclar is finally making
it to Shanghai with the help of the Solid Vodka team, fresh from a break and
ready to present the 2007 party calendar.
Bob, Winner of the 2006 World Music awards and soundtrack to so many Shanghai nights, will aptly be appearing at Bar Rouge on March 3rd, one of Shanghai's top party spots and location of many a night fed on the Sinclar diet. We've all experienced the Shanghai right of passage, listening to "Love Generation" as the bar lights up at Bar Rouge and the crowd goes wild. Hong Kong will also be treated to a performance at Dragon-I. The tour follows the cancelled October spot, and the rumor of New Year appearances. Bob Sinclar is arguably the most legendary DJ of the decade, dominating both dance floors and the charts for the last seven years since his Champs Elysees album, with such legendary tracks as "I Feel for You" and "You are Beautiful". He's since then played across the world, but never before in Shanghai, a city which is pretty much DJ obsessed and has hosted many of the rest of the world's best. Bob, who will be staying at Le Royal Meridien hotel, comes to us as a gift from Solid Vodka, as they kick off their 2007 party campaign. The purveyors of premium Polish goodness have a party program planned to top the last year in Shanghai and it's pretty obvious they're starting off on the right note. They focus on mainstream House music as music for the masses; pretty much like how Solid is vodka for the masses - how very Communist-friendly! The brand is undergoing somewhat of a relaunch, with a new website on the way and an even more fun loving approach to life, as well, of course, their DJ nights and parties - all the better for us, the consumer, I say... Bob Sinclair has been DJ'ing since 1986 when he mixed Gym & Tonic, taking soundbites from Jane Fonda's workout videos. He's popularized the French style of House (and as the song says, French do it best) He's dabbled in acid jazz and afro-influenced beats, but it was House tune Love Generation which really hit the spot, reaching Number One across the globe. World Hold On was number one across most of the European continent and Rock this Party (Everybody Dance Now) bettered even that classic piece of dance history. Thanks Solid, and World Hold On...
