Piggy Run,family fun!(shanghai daily)Updated: 2007-02-16 09:07 The year of 2007, according
to Chinese lunar calendar, is the Year of the Pig. Many Chinese people believe
that this animal sign represents bounty, richness, patience and a respite from
strife.
Celebrations for the New Year are rolling. One of them is the hilarious musical "Run! Piggy Run!" presented by Little Webster Children's Musical Troupe and Haha TV. Based on an original children's fairytale, the story revolves around a group of maverick piggies who band together to escape from becoming pork hamburgers. Eventually these clever and brave piggies win happiness and freedom. The play also stars popular Haha TV hostess Shen Mo, who teaches the piggies the power of solidarity in addition to dazzling kung fu boxing. "It has taken us one year to prepare (for this show)," says Jiang Hanqing, director of the show. "We have to ensure that it satisfies the tastes of both the kids and parents." During the performance, light-hearted interactive games will be offered to create a warm family ambience around the stage. Kids will have the chance to learn amusing songs, do physical exercises and dance under the instruction of TV anchor Fang Ye. Director Jiang considers children's drama a promising art form. "Nowadays parents are keen to enrich the spiritual live of their kids," he explains. "For sure we will find more big productions with an emphasis on audience participation in this genre in the near future."
