Impressive Valentine's Day dinner

Apparently someone out there thinks dining out on Valentine's Day should not just be romantic, but also luxurious.

The Pudong Shangri-la Hotel in Shanghai is now presenting an extravagant dinner package for the upcoming Valentine's Day. The service is tagged at 388,888 yuan (US$50,198), close to the value of a decent studio apartment in the city.

Besides food, diners will be given jewelry as well as other luxury gifts.

The package is double the price of last year's record high Valentine's Day dinner offered by another high-end hotel in the city, though no one took advantage of the service.

Insiders say moderate Valentine's Day dinners with prices around 1,000 yuan are the most popular at the moment.
