Typically at a yoga center, practitioners reach a level of serenity that can often unleash their inner spirituality. With such highs, it is no wonder that many are taking to this ancient Indian practice of exercise.

Recently, Y+ Yoga Center introduced its "Infinite Horizon" theme to convey a more intense sense of yoga to its members.

Yu Liangheng, the center's founder and president, said many senior citizens this year had taken their yoga exercises at Y+ to a higher level.

"In order to give these seniors a greater sense of what yoga is about and the benefits it can bring to their lives, we try to help them step into a supreme yoga realm by offering such a concept."

The design of the center in the Xintiandi entertainment complex itself provides an inspiring setting for practice. Lyndon Neri, the chief designer of Three on the Bund, has elaborately created the center's decor, while Cetric Leung, a famous Hong Kong designer, worked on the theme.

"My idea originates from understanding yoga's concept of challenging one's utmost limits and the idea of self-modeling and self-surpass," said Leung. "The design was realized through pictures, words, photography and three-dimensional images. This is reflected respectively in the interior decor, our Website and the Y+ Center advertisements."

As practitioners enter the center, the ultramodern sense of the facility's design is sure to impress. Images that portray great shock value are powerful and meaningful and reflect the essence of the various themes.

These include such maxims as "Enjoy slow. Slow is the new fast," "Go with the flow. It is your inner voice," and "Explore your inner-self before exploring the world," among others.

In this inspired atmosphere, practitioners can quietly comprehend the connotations that will hopefully inspire them to deep thoughts.

"Since there are a lot of elites and celebrities among our members, we find that what they care most about is to pursue a new breakthrough in their own fields, especially ideological breakthroughs," said Yu.

"In the Infinite Horizon theme we hope to inspire them to generate more profound comprehension of life. As a first-class yoga center, we've provided a good platform for their self-modeling and advancement."

Y+ Yoga center, which was established in April 2003, enjoys a worldwide reputation for its prestige, high-standard of international yoga instructors and its first-class environment. Currently, it has 10,000 members at its two local centers and another in Hangzhou.

Last year, Y+ introduced its "All-dimensional Yoga Life Concept." This involves the five principles of "exercise, relaxation, health preservation, breathing and diet." Such principles are the basis for practitioners to fully acquire both physical and spiritual nourishment.

"During the last three years, Y+ Yoga center has been consistently praised as a leader for home yoga practice," said Yu. "Now the center is continuing in its effort to raise the standard of most of its members from a beginners' level to understanding some simple concepts, such as body-fitness and beautifying."

So if you are looking for a new type of exercise that is both physical and spiritual at the same time, yoga is a good way to unleash the body's inner energies and to achieve new highs.
