The art of blending

Paris, Miami, Moscow and Shanghai. I guess you've got to be kind of flattered when Hennessy VSOP decides to launch a global cocktail range and names one of them after what we all know is the hottest city in the world, Shanghai. The range will be unveiled as part of the Hennessey Global Artistry Tour, a veritable delectation of the top music across the global sphere.

Having finished the US tour on the 17h October with an ¨ıber-gig in Capitale, one of New York's hottest venues, with Kanye West, Carl Cox, The Strokes and Goldfrapp, some pretty amazing artists to see live, never mind together in one concert, the Hennessey Experience rolls on to mainland China via Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, Dalian, Chengdu and, of course, Shanghai. The first round is a night on the 18th November in G Spot with appearances from DJ Union (that's Trix, Carl Lorimer and the yummy Kingpin to you and I) and varied appearances from the Hennessy artistry crew from Soler to Hu Yanbin and Yumiko.

Having warmed up with club nights and performances across China throughout November, the conclusion of the China tour is a concert of epic proportions over at the Pudong Expo site on December 2nd which offers such a wide variety of musical flavours that all of my colleagues, with their interests running from Saturday night Karaoke to Drum & Bass, each found something to make them jump around the office. The bill covers superstars from David Tao to Sky Nellor, to Juliette & the Licks of Oscar-nominated actress Juliette Lewis fame. The blending of musical entertainment encapsulates the motto of Hennessey VSOP; "This is me. Live Life to the Full". Whether you're into hip hop or rock, rap or R&B, and whether you're more of a Moscow, Miami, Paris or Shanghai kind of girl or guy, there's pretty much something there from the top of all the trees in the musical forest.

Bringing it back to Hennessy VSOP, the reason for all this celebration, I've always considered this king of the spirits to be pretty much a drink for all weathers, along the same vein as the Hennessy Artistry tour. From hip hop moguls, to Winston Churchill and Henri from Moulin Rouge, and me included, plenty of superstars have found their own flavours in the complexity of a damn good glass of the refined liquor from the Cognac region of France. I don't mind telling you that this one is my favourite for bringing back through customs for a late-night tipple. And you know what? With all those big name supporters, I can't be far wrong...Let's party!
