Dr Sun Yat-sen, former leader of KMT (the Nationalists), is also known as Sun Zhongshan, which Zhongshan City is named after.

Zhongshan is always associated with Dr Sun Yat-sen, who is the founder of the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT). He led the Xinhai (1911) Revolution against the feudalist society and succeeded in overthrowing the Qing Dynasty in 1911, setting up the first republic society in Asia. For this, he is regarded as the father of modern China. He was born in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Township. Sun grew up here with his parents and family members. He received his most education abroad as a doctor when he was young. But he turned out a revolutionary of democracy, leading China in fighting against feudalism and leaving behind rich legacies. He will be always remembered at the bottoms of the hearts of all Chinese people, both at home and abroad.

In memory of Dr Sun Yat-set, Cuiheng Village has been restored, according to the original look of his time. Visitors can get a quick glimpse of the lifestyle, folk customs and social practices in Zhongshan at the turning point of the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. The past traditions are very much in evidence. He is the man of moral nobility, with a far-sighted vision and inspiring spirit as a leader of a nation like China.
