Among the numerous barbecue restaurants in Beijing,Chiku Kaoshuanfang is a unique one. The restaurant, also known as the Xidan Roasted Chicken Wing, is located in a small siheyuan, or traditional courtyard, in a hutong near the prosperous Xidan commercial district. It doesn't have a stele like an ordinary restaurant, but uses a pair of red lanterns to decorate its traditional red door.

The restaurant is quite small, so if you want to dine at the restaurant, you have to make a reservation in advance. On the wall of the restaurant, many interesting sayings are left by the customers. One says, "If you love somebody, let him (or her) eat the original-flavored chicken wing. If you hate somebody, let him (or her) to have the double-sided spicy one." Yes, there are four kinds of roasted wings at the restaurant. The original flavor has no spice at all and tastes a bit sweet. The slightly hotter one will suit those who like spicy food but can't have too much. "One-sided spicy" means quite spicy here and "double-sided spicy" is usually described as "crazy spicy" by customers.
