Enjoy your private barLong live the new Glamour Bar. M on the Bund's restaurant and bar have separated; the latter now has its own space one floor down.

There was some concern that the spacious new digs might disturb the sense of intimacy, but fear not. Customers can now enjoy a Martini in what feels like their own (very well-appointed) living room. For more privacy, the new bar is also equipped with pen-and-ink screen panels that can be raised or lowered to subdivide the room. The Champagne bar, another new addition, is small and subtly appointed-a welcome change from the flash that often attends this beverage. The central bar's stainless steel hanging racks and wrapped wire foundation are a divergence from the classic cabaret feeling upstairs, but the bar's same gracious service, well-chosen music and understated charm is proof that modernity needn't sacrifice gentility.

Opening hours: Daily 5pm-late
Address: 6/F No.5 The Bund, 20 Guangdong Lu, by Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu
