The Emergency Room

ER was a hit series about Emergency Room doctors; seems plausible that a bar called Emergency Room modelled on a re-recuperation centre, serving 'restorative' drinks to rich, trendy overworked professionals, might prove just as popular.

Sure enough, in increasingly image-conscious Beijing, it does. The cocktail menu is designed like a doctors prescription, offering medicines such as the Emergency Room-a Tequila, Cointreau and Orange Juice (for the vitamin C) special; and the Aspirin, made with Gin, egg white and lime for its own citrus dose of vitamin.

The design is New York-swank, with a sleek upstairs lounge for chatting and chilling out, a main downstairs space that's used for art and fashion shows, and a wooden terrace decked out with Zen-like Asian-meets-Scandinavian furniture. They serve health snacks too. Nurse, the screens!
