Hot spot for Beijing clubbers
(City Weekend)
Updated: 2006-07-19 09:12

If you've been to Babyface on Gongti Xilu, then perhaps you shouldn't read this review, as a simple substitution of "Xizhimen Wai" for "Gongti Xilu" will tell you almost everything you need to know.

Babyface is a hot spot for the clubbers of Beijing; exemplified best by the wait staff who stare at you in horror if you order a vodka tonic (RMB 45) and not an entire bottle of vodka, and by barmen who flip about bottles like batons in some gymnastics routine, or the dance floor masked in fog, not to mention music so loud you can't even think clearly enough to decide whether or not you're enjoying yourself.

Babyface's expansion west is a testament to their popularity among foreigners and locals alike. This installment is smaller than its Gongti equivalent, but would be a good place to pick up a lovely someone with ease on the racy dance floor, or impress someone who likes opulence in a club setting.
