Tucked away: decades

(That's Shanghai)
Updated: 2006-06-19 15:48

Tucked away: decadesLocated on hectic Maominglu, it's all-too-easy to miss the entrance to this charming cafe. However, once you do pass through its small archway, the chaos of the city is quickly forgotten.

With its 1930s feel, warm colors and wood paneling, Decades exudes an air of peaceful tranquility, the sort one imagines was the norm in times past. The old Shanghai atmosphere is accentuated by the quaint second floor dining room, reached by way of a rickety staircase. The bill of fare, though, is anything but dated, featuring a wide selection of pasta (RMB 30-35) and delicious thin crust pizza (RMB 28-58).

Add in friendly and efficient service and Decades is a restaurant worthy of your time. Indeed, one could say it's a place for the ages.

Location: No. 215 Maoming Bei Lu, by Weihai Lu
Opening time: Daily 9am-2am. No cards.
Cost for two (excluding drinks): RMB 60
Tel: 021-62150023
