Greek Aegean: for summer dates

Aegean incites a terribly romantic feeling. White and sky-blue decor puts one in a gentle mood well-suited to the consumption of sun-kissed specialties and fragrant house pours of Sauvignon Blanc (RMB 38) and Merlot (RMB 38). Hummus (RMB 25) and Sun-dried Tomato Dip (RMB 25) neither over nor underwhelm. The Aegean Salad (RMB 35) satisfies with roasted red pepper and a smacky balsamic dressing, and the Traditional Greek Salad (RMB 45) is generously relished with capers and herbs, though this reviewer is never sated by olive allowances. Moussakas (RMB 55) enriches the evening, and the Soutzoukakia Smirneika (RMB 65), a cumin-laced beef dish, is worth its weight in letters.

The Mediterannean's seafood dishes, however, are conspicuously absent. But hold out for more from Aegean because, as Aristotle put it, "Hope is a waking dream."
