The performance blockbuster "The Ancient Dance and Music of Dunhuang" will be
presented in Dunhuang, Gansu province starting from June 18.
There will be a performance each day for 100 days at the Dunhuang City
Cinema.
Directed and performed by the Gansu Provincial Opera House, "The Ancient
Dance and Music of Dunhuang" skillfully represents the artistic achievements of
the city of Dunhuang along the Silk Road. Some of the dances are choreographed
after the mural paintings discovered in Dunhuang's nearby grottoes. Since its
creation in 2002, the production has been presented over 200 times to receptive
audiences in Lijiang, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Dunhuang, a prominent historic town along the Silk Road, is famous for its
grottoes, ancient fortess and unique desert landscape . The city is drawing an
increasing number of tourists both from home and abroad. A cultural performance
like "The Ancient Dance and Music of Dunhuang" is a pleasant attraction for
Dunhuang's visitors.
