The Mutianyu Great Wall scenic area will repair a 2,400-metre-long section of wild Great Wall currently not officially open to tourists and open it before the Beijing 2008 Olympics as an extension.

With consent from state and local authorities, repair work will start within this year. After the extension, the scenic area of the Mutianyu Great Wall will be as long as 6,000 metres, making it the lengthiest Great Wall scenic area in China.

The extention program will also include the construction of roads, parking lots, sewage treatment and landscape engineering facilities.

The Mutianyu Great Wall scenic area stretches up and down along mountains for over 3,000 metres.
