Epicvre: French cuisine
(That's Shanghai)
Updated: 2006-05-23 16:36

Situated on quiet Xinle Lu, Epicvre is a specialist French delicatessen. With over 160 varieties of wine to choose from, it boasts the finest of French flavors: biscuits from Bretagne, confiture from the Cote-d'Azur and even pate from the Pyrenees (if they don't have what you're looking for, for a fee they can arrange delivery from France).

In any case, this is a wonderful stop for tired shoppers. Take a seat at the counter or window table; enjoy a drink of St Emilion Bordeaux, or share a lunch of pate de lievre aux herbes provencales (RMB 69) and good conversation with friends. That is if you're not too distracted by the decor. Some may consider it elegant, but for our money the stark, orange interior doesn't work. Still, the service is friendly and informed and while you might not wish to linger all afternoon, at least stay long enough to enjoy the 'plaisir chez Epicvre'.
