Japanese restaurant: Colabo
(That's Shanghai )
Updated: 2006-05-16 10:35

Colabo on Fenyang Lu is the latest branch of a successful Shanghai chain of restaurants run by Japanese entrepreneur Kazu Nakamura. He's also the new owner of late night hotspot, Dragon Club, which shares the same building.

Where there was once a club, there is now a well-lit, very pleasant dining space, full of well-dressed very pleasant Japanese diners. As one might expect, the service is smart and polite, though, on our visit, the food was slow in coming.

Once it arrived, we felt slightly let down by the white fish in 'hushed' potato (RMB 80) which resembled a fish hash brown. Nor was the main ingredient in the seafood pizza (RMB 75) the freshest catch in the sea. However our other dishes, the lasagna, for example, were more than satisfactory.

In short, Colabo is what it is-a Japanese restaurant in Italian clothing.
