For local Beijingers, finding a great place to eat is never a problem. The capital is rife with restaurants offering tasty treats for hungry customers. But what about non-Beijingers? People from all over China work and live in China's capital. Curious about where they go when hunger hits? Let's take a look...

Shaanxi Mingchi (Famous Shaanxi dishes)

Shaanxi Mingchi features original Shaanxi dishes and draws in crowds from the Sanlian Bookstore next door, young rebels, college students and white-collar workers.
The best dishes are; Yopochemian (RMB 8), several pieces of broad torn noodles served in a big bowl with vegetables and seasoning and Yangroupaomo (RMB 15), mutton (or beef) soup with pancake pieces on top and rice noodles at the bottom, usually dotted with vegetables like green beans and mushrooms. Yangroupaomo is great for those with testy stomachs as the thinly sliced mutton (or beef) and pancake pieces cooked so long they are almost like paste. Those who are starving to death and need to eat immediately had better order another dish. It takes a long time to cook proper Yangroupaomo

The cooked-to-order Lazhiroujiamo (RMB 5), Chinese hamburger with preserved ham, is also worth trying, but diners will need to queue to get one. All noodles are served in large quantities. The medium set is usually enough for two adults, and the large set can feed four.
