Master of traditional Chinese painting, Fan Zeng, has donated 3 million yuan ($440,000) to help preserve the intangible cultural heritage of the Qiang ethnic group, which suffered greatly in last year's earthquake in Sichuan province.

The impact in Beichuan, the only Qiang autonomous county in China, located near the epicenter of the quake in Wenchuan, destroyed not just houses but also facilities that housed the Qiang's intangible heritage.

Fan, who is also known for his calligraphy and poetry and is a special advisor to UNESCO, donated 10 million yuan to the worst-hit areas, in the immediate aftermath of last year's quake .
