Stage

Argentine dance master Inaki Urlezaga was once a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet in London and the Dutch National Ballet. He leads the Ballet Concerto of Argentina to the Shanghai International Art Festival and brings two projects - The Day an Angel Came to Buenos Aires, a tango dance drama, and Carmina Burana, a dance show of the same title by German composer Carl Orff.

At a 1996 global competition in Montreal, Canada, the very youngEdvin Martonwon the lifelong right to play a world-famous Antonio Stradivarius violin made in 1697. It was the same one Niccolo Paganini played a century later and is worth about $4 million.

The Edvin Marton Stradivarius Show includes Tosca Fantasy and Romeo and Juliet, which he played at the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games.

Exhibitions

Shen Fan's ongoing solo show at the ShanghART Gallery can be regarded as a fragmented record of his daily meditation.

He repeats the same patterns and forms he uses to remove individualism or self-expression. Reflecting his pursuit of pure spirituality, the harmonious compositions of his works are devoid of any extravagances.

Raymond Saunders, who holds a top place in American art history, is Stir Art Gallery's featured artist for this month. His pieces range from painted works to flat mixed-media assemblages. They sometimes border on sculpture but ultimately retain the physical flatness key to the Modernist school of painting.

The grand exhibition Memories of Shanghai brings together60 artists' worksdepicting the metropolis over the past 10 years. Media include photos, videos and documentaries. The exhibition is staged at Hong Miao, a Taoist temple with more than 400 years' history that has been turned into an art gallery. Many of the photos have been shot by internationally acclaimed artists from home and abroad.
