DirectorLi Liuyiof the Beijing People's Art Theater will present his first ballet production The Peony Pavilion. The famous love story written by Ming Dynasty playwright Tang Xianzu, has mostly been staged as Chinese operas. The ballet version focuses on the exploration of the inner world of the characters through body language. 7:30 pm, Oct 24 Tianqiao Theater, 30 Beiwei Lu, Xuanwu district 5166-1145 Two concerts are being held to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Haydn (1732-1809). Led by conductorEnoch zu Guttenberg, the KlangVerwaltung Orchestra and Chorus will present Haydn's choral works The Seasons and Creation. The Seasons extols pastoral life, while Creation celebrates God's creation of the world. 7:30 pm, Oct 23, 24 Forbidden City Concert Hall in Zhongshan Park 6559-8285 The Peony Pavilion, the classicKunqu Opera, is on at the Imperial Granary, a perfect venue for such a show.
