With Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterpiece Cats returning to Beijing for eight shows, the city seems besieged by felines.
Shoppers could not have missed the avalanche of "cats" at the city's trendiest shopping malls. Early this month, the Sanlitun's Village organized activities for kids with a "cat uncle" in attendance.
And last Tuesday evening, visitors to the Oriental Plaza saw some big "cats" mewing in the malls, taking photos with passers-by. You are sure to find more, so keep your eyes peeled.
When Cats made its appearance in Beijing last year, many ticket holders were forced to stay out until the opening song, Invitation to the Jellicle Ball, was over. This favorite segment of fans has several "cats" jumping off the stage and into the audience.
Do keep alert during the break, as some "cat thieves" might try to make off with your purse. You may have to run after them to catch them. However, this is a game. Please don't hurt them.
The musical's spokesman says this is the last stop of the performance's world tour. Cats is not likely to be seen in China for the next five to 10 years, so grab your chance now!
