Banking on comfort

The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street's understated elegance is reflected in its swimming pool. A big screen shows classic black and white films throughout the day.

China's booming economy has always amazed international business people and never more so than now.

The State Information Center (SIC) estimates China's gross domestic product will grow about 8.5 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier, rising from the second quarter's 7.9 percent.

Amid the dark clouds of the global recession, these glowing figures are a sight for sore eyes and reflect the success of Beijing's flourishing banking industry.

And The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street offers a bird's-eye view of all the action.

Located on the edge of China's newly emerging "Wall Street" where major domestic and international banking and finance institutions are located, the hotel commands a majestic view of the cityscape outlined by skyscrapers on the western part of the capital city.

Sitting in the Executive Lounge on the 26th floor and gazing out the windows, a visitor will see China's financial landscape unfold. It is young, energetic, promising and exciting.

More than 1,000 financial institutions reside in the district, including China's central bank, three national regulatory commissions of the central government, as well as the headquarters of many other major commercial banks.

In addition, the district has also attracted many foreign investment conglomerates, such as UBS, Royal Bank of Canada, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Bank of America.

The proximity to the capital of capitalists is definitely one of the hotels strong attractions.

But once inside its courtyard-like entrance, the hustle and bustle of the money markets feels far behind.
