'Violence should not be tolerated'

Mr Masood Khan, the Pakistani Ambassador to China, condemned the recent riots in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and said violence should not be tolerated "under any circumstances".

'Relations with China should have primacy'

The China-Pakistan relationship is one of Pakistan's most important bilateral relationships and it should take primacy over Pakistan's "all other relationships", Mr Masood Khan, the Pakistani Ambassador to China said.

"China...has emerged as a pillar of strength for the international community. It is a pillar of stability for the region. Therefore, I think collectively, the international community should celebrate the founding of the People's Republic of China."

"The volume of wealth has increased (since the 1980s) and the standard of living has soared. There is dramatic change and this is unprecedented in the history of the world."

"No relationship - our relationship with the United States or our relationship with other countries - can match the unique characteristics of our relationship with China."

"The relations between Pakistan and China...are anchored in the hearts and minds of the people; they are part of the popular psyche."
