China officially connected to the World Wide Web in 1994.

The swift development of the Internet has resulted in deep changes in the way people work, study and live their lives, prompting reform and development of China’s media industry.

Leading the trend, China Daily took the initiative to launch its digital edition in 1994.

The next year, the China Daily Website (http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/), the nation’s first national English language website, was officially launched to play an important role as a leader in China’s online media.

The China Daily Website’s English webpage also became the most influential English web portal in China.

Over the past five years, the China Daily Website continued to set the trend.

Offering creativity and initiative in web services, it was the first in the country to launch a Chinese-English bilingual mobile news service, along with news and information services on Apple’s App Store.

It also expanded a wider range of Chinese language services and made its way into mobile TV services and the cartoon industry.

It now provides full coverage of services on major mobile client platforms and delivers credible, round-the-clock news and information on China to the whole world in several different languages through multiple channels.

In 2010, China Daily launched its App for the iPad, An English-Chinese bilingual audio newspaper service to China Mobile subscribers, as well as Apps for major smart phones and panel computers.
