Concerns addressed over some key issues

By Zhang Zhouxiang | China Daily | Updated: 2016-11-01 07:43

Ministries have responded to a series of public concerns over various policies. The Ministry of Environmental Protection responded to the concerns on environmental pollution they received from the public on Oct 27. It said it has finished dealing with 52 cases reported by residents or the media, including issues such as waste gas, water pollution, solid waste, and noise.

Various levels of environmental agencies have dealt with the cases by ordering the concerned enterprises to shut down or fining them. Details of three of the cases are cited as examples.

The operating team of the 12358 hotline platform, which is used to supervise prices in the market and stop price-related cheating, issued its analysis for September. That month, the number of complaints it received was slightly fewer than for August, but it still ranked as the third-highest in history.

Price supervision agencies at all levels have been busy dealing with these complaints. The number of online shopping complaints rose 12 fold compared with the same period last year.

Considering the problems and potential dangers with the Galaxy Note 7, a new cellphone produced by Samsung, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has forbidden passengers and crew members from taking the Galaxy Note 7 with them since Oct 26. Airlines, ticket agents and checking points are responsible for informing passengers about the new rule, and those violating the regulation will receive legal penalties from the police.

The State Council issued a National Agriculture Modernization Plan 2016-2020, which makes clear arrangements for national agricultural modernization and matches the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) and the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).

The plan is the guiding document for China's agricultural development in the coming five years. Han Changfu, minister of agriculture, explained the plan to the press and answered their questions.

Han placed special emphasis on the importance of food security, saying that it is an ongoing task for China. "In the future, we may not necessarily ensure our grain output increases year by year, but it is a must that we improve the comprehensive production capabilities of the domestic agricultural sector."
