Kunming People's Procuratorate on Friday denied on its website that 100 million yuan ($16 million) worth of cash was found in the home of Han Yubiao after the district police chief was investigated.

According to the announcement, Han is suspected of taking bribes of more than 4 million yuan. He is currently under investigation.

Han, 44, was the deputy head of the Guandu district of Kunming, Yunnan province, and director of the district's police bureau. An investigation into Han began on Nov 21, 2014 due to suspicions of bribe-taking. He was detained on Feb 12 this year.

The case is still being investigated and the procuratorate will release the information to the public after it concludes.

Earlier reports on Friday said that there was 100 million yuan worth of cash in Han's home.
