The 8th China (Xi'an) Software and Outsourcing Summit was held on Friday in the capital of Shaanxi province.

With the theme New Silk Road, New Technology, Industrial Integration and Development, the summit at Xi'an Hi-tech Development Zone attracted more than 300 software businessmen, experts, CEOs and investors from around the world to further promote the development of the software and information service industries.

Zhuang Changxing, deputy governor of Shaanxi province, said the provincial government paid great attention to the software and service outsourcing industries which generated $820 million in 2013, and enjoyed a 19.9 percent increase between January and September this year, reaching $910 million.

"The total number of service outsourcing enterprises in the province reached 513 with 82,000 employees and they provided service for customers in 85 countries. Shaanxi has become one of the most important provinces of service outsourcing," Zhuang said.

An Jianli, director of Xi'an Hi-tech Development Zone's administration committee, said the strategic vision made by President Xi Jinping of building the Silk Road economic belt along the ancient Silk Road, gave Xi'an a new opportunity to further open up and promote cooperation with foreign countries for further development.

According to An, the zone is one of the fastest growing places for software and service outsourcing industries in Western China, with a new development, Xi'an Software Industrial Park, being under construction.

"The first phase with 150,000 sq meters of research buildings has been completed and put into operation on Aug 28," An said.
