Two injured in Guangzhou shootout

Two people were injured in a shooting in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Information Times reported on Tuesday.

The newspaper said gunshots were exchanged between police and suspects in a residential building in Haizhu district at around 6 pm on Tuesday. Witnesses said they heard at least six gunshots and saw smoke coming out of the building.

Two people were carried out, but their identities were unknown, according to the report.

Police have cordoned off the site.

Many police officers and firefighters were at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation, the report said.
