Rice noodle firm loses license

The food and drug administration in Dongguan, Guangdong province, has withdrawn a rice noodle producer's license and confiscated substandard food material, according to a statement released by the provincial authorities on Thursday.

In early July, the Guangdong Food and Drug Administration launched a five-month special inspection of rice noodle producers in the province after discovering that workers at a plant in Dongguan processed the food with bare feet.

There are 210 registered rice noodle producers in Guangdong. Last year, 142 batches of rice noodles were tested by the provincial administration, 11 of which failed the quality test and eight failed for labeling.
