Editor's note: To offer a clearer picture of history, the State Archives Administration released a large number of files on 45 Japanese war criminals who were tried and convicted in China after World War II. The special military tribunal of the Supreme People's Court held public trials, sentencing the criminals to between eight and 20 years in jail. China Daily is publishing abstracts of the criminals' confessions.
Kuyoshi Kamino
Born in 1908 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, Kamino in March 1941 took part in the War of Aggression against China and was appointed chief police commander under the jurisdiction of the Datong Government Office. He also served as a major and director of the Datong Security Forces under Yan Xishan.
According to Kamino's written confession, he committed a number of crimes during the war, including killing 177 Chinese people, raping 24 people, attempting to rape five people and arresting 24 innocent Chinese people.
On June 13, 1941, Kamino arrested 20 villagers and locked them up in a cave in Pinggu county. He then threw two sneezing gas canisters into the cave.
On July 15, 1942, Kamino raped a 32-year-old woman in Pinglu county.
On Sept 13, 1942, he raped a 35-year-old woman at her home in a village 2.5 kilometers from Pinglu county.
On June 7, 1945, he raped two women, a 25-year-old and a 28-year-old, while they were looking after a man in poor health in Nantuling village, Guangling county.
