A case that involved a judge beating a security guard was recently settled after the judge apologized and paid compensation to the guard in Kunming, Yunnan province, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Li Taijun, a deputy judge with Yunnan High People's Court, became a well-known figure after a photo that showed him beating the security guard in a parking area of a residential community was posted online.

The photo showed the security guard Tan Ming kneeling and appearing to beg for mercy.

Li returned to the community where he beat Tan to publicly apologize and pay Tan's medical bills and compensation on April 21.

Tan accepted Li's apology, the report said.
