New farmer: Ju Xiaolin

The Communist Party of China (CPC) has elected younger and more grassroots-level delegates to attend its upcoming 18th national congress. The China Daily online edition will introduce some CPC delegates.

Chinese farmer Ju Xiaolin quit his job as a film projectionist serving villages in Qishan county, Northwest China's Shaanxi province in 1987, and was employed by China CREC Railway Electrification Bureau Group at the age of 25.During the following 25 years, as a technician working on overhead contact systems (OCS), he devoted himself to China's railway development across the country and participated in the construction of 10 major electrified railways.

Although he only graduated from senior high school, he kept studying new technology. In 2009, he published OCS Experiment and Methods, which became the handbook of thousands of OCS technicians in China. The 43 technical improvements he achieved helped to bring about economic profits of 10 million yuan. Being versatile, he likes writing poems and painting. Ju said his dream is to see high speed railways reaching every corner of the country.

He was voted as a CPC delegate to attend the 18th national congress in July this year.
