The Beijing Badaling Section of the Great Wall and South Korea's Jeju Island will work together to boost their tourism industries and boost green economic development.

Officials from the two scenic spots signed a memorandum of cooperation to further promote each other's tourism development on Friday in Beijing.

The two scenic spots, with their total annual number of visitors reaching 17 million, will further exchange tourism information, and optimize local tourism resources with more diversified itineraries, to meet growing demand from tourists and further tap the tourism market.

"Cooperation between the two world-renowned scenic spots will definitely be a win-win situation for both cities,"said Lu Yong, director of the Beijing Tourism Development Committee, during the signing ceremony on Friday.

According to the committee, South Korea is one of the major overseas tourist markets for Beijing residents. The number of South Korean tourists coming to Beijing reached 534,000 last year, making South Korea replace Japan as China's second-largest overseas tourist market following the United States.
