Zhang Chunxian, Party secretary of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, opened his own micro blog on Wednesday, making him the highest known-level official of the Communist Party of China to communicate with people through the popular channel.
Zhang confirmed that he is the host of the micro blog, which can be found on t.qq.com/zhangchunxianlx. More than 1,800 comments have been posted after his post.
"My micro blog is opened for better introduction of the social development in Xinjiang. I have received many good comments. And I'm very happy about it," he told China Daily at a group discussion of the Xinjiang delegation Thursday.
As the annual sessions of the NPC and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) open this week, hundreds of NPC deputies and CPPCC members began writing micro blogs to better communicate with the people. About 328 had opened micro blogs on t.sina.com.cn as of March 2.
