10 dead, 12 injured as home topples in C China

CHANGSHA - Ten people died and 12 others were injured when a home toppled in Central China's Hunan province Monday night, local authorities said Tuesday.
The accident happened at around 7:40 pm in Yuejin village, Tanfu township of Xinshao county, the county government said in a press release.
In all, 22 villagers were buried in the debris of the ramshackle house, where they were making funeral arrangements for the home owner's deceased uncle, according to the release.
Rescuers searched in the rubble until midnight. Eight dead bodies were retrieved and 14 people were sent to hospital with injuries, it said.
Two critically injured villagers died in hospital Tuesday morning and the other 12 people were in a stable condition, the document said, quoting hospital sources.
It added the cause of the accident is under investigation.
