TIANJIN - North China's Tianjin municipality plans to create a world-class aerospace and aviation industry cluster, said an official with the new area administrative committee on Thursday.

Located in Binhai New District of Tianjin, the aerospace and aviation industry cluster is designed to cover 30 square kilometers. The industrial output value of the cluster is expected to reach 100 billion yuan ($15.43 billion) by 2015 and 280 billion yuan by 2020.

The new "aerospace city" is based on the Airbus A320 Family final assembly line, a helicopter assembly hub, and a rocket booster project.

The aerospace and aviation industry cluster will attract parts manufacturers related to the A320 final assembly line, and aims to make itself the largest final assembly manufacturing and maintenance center in Asia.

It will facilitate the development of the civilian helicopter assembly industry that will develop a series of helicopters, said the official.

It will also develop the new generation of carrier rockets, as well as the design and manufacturing of satellites.
