SEOUL - Chinese actress Zhang Jingchu was appointed as the Promotional Ambassador of Korean Tourism and Culture by South Korea's tourism ministry and the Korea Tourism Organization on Wednesday.

Zhang, whose credits include such classics as "Seven Swords" and "Jade Warrior", is considered one of China's rising female actresses. She emerged into international fame after starring in "Peacock", which won a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 2005.

She made her Hollywood debut with her role in "Rush Hour 3". The star was also named on Forbes's list of China's most powerful celebrities, released in May this year.

"I'll let Chinese people know various kinds of happy feelings I have experienced, when I go back to China," Zhang said at a ceremony held in central Seoul on Wednesday.

The Korea Tourism Organization will work closely with Zhang to carry out promotional activities to enhance South Korea's tourism image in China.
