SHANGHAI-- China's annual vehicle sales are expected to rise to 23 million units by 2015, up 27 percent from their level in 2010, a senior government official said on Monday, suggesting a slowdown in growth.

Su Bo, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, mentioned the forecast at a seminar being held ahead of the Shanghai Auto Show.

China's vehicle sales rose 32.4 percent in 2010 to 18.06 million units, securing the country's position as the world's biggest auto market for the second straight year, according to official data.
