BOAO, Hainan - China needs to focus on improving some economic aspects without maintaining sustainable growth instead of worrying too much about how its economic performance would be evaluated, under a new plan by the Group of 20 finance chiefs in Washington on Friday.

Chinese central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan made the remarks on Saturday in a panel discussion during the Boao Forum in Hainan province.

“No matter how the indicators set up, every large economy cannot meet all these standards. China should not bother too much about how to submit a full-score answer sheet,” Zhou said.

Earlier, Zhou told the media that China will continue to allow more flexibility in the yuan, while the tightening of its monetary policies will continue for a while to help curb rising inflation
